BEING PASSIONATE ABOUT ART HAS LED US TO MEET VARIOUS CRAFTSMEN WHO HAVE IN COMMON THE DEMAND FOR EXCELLENCE.
BY COLLABORATING WITH THESE CONSERVATORS-RESTORERS, CRAFTSMEN AND SPECIALISTS, WE GUARANTEE HIGH QUALITY CONSERVATION AND IMPECCABLE PRESENTATION OF OUR ANCIENT OBJET D’ART.

OUR RESTORERS

We work with experts in the conservation and restoration of artworks. Our goal is to restore works that have been damaged by time with traditional techniques but also by calling on the most recent restoration and preservation skills and by approaching museum standards.

SCULPTURE RESTORER

The sculpture restorer’s first task is conservation, stopping patina oxidation and reinforcing the work’s fragile structural points.

GRAPHIC ARTS RESTORER

The graphic arts restorer preserves and remedies the damage caused by humidity, exposure to sunlight and the fragility of paper. He applies a preventive conservation treatment that meets museum standards.

PAINTING RESTORER

The painting restorer gives the color splendor again by removing the oxidized varnishes and acts for the durability of the support and the pictorial layer.

GILDING RESTORER

The gilder is an essential craftsman as he restores their original brilliance to certain works tarnished by the passage of time or the hand of man.

MARQUETRY RESTORER

Gluing or filling in the gaps with original materials such as mother-of-pearl is an essential work that guarantees the item’s durability over time.

CABINETMAKING RESTORER

The cabinetmaker guarantees the durability of the wood by preserving it from damage caused by unfortunate events such as attacks of wood-eating insects.

RESTORING MASTERS WHO ARE EXPERTS IN THE CONSERVATION AND RESTORATION OF WORKS. WE WORK WITH RESTORERS FOR PAINTINGS, SCULPTURES, GRAPHIC ARTS: DRAWINGS, ENGRAVINGS, GOUACHES, PASTELS AND WATERCOLORS. WE WORK WITH GILDERS, CABINETMAKERS AND MARQUETRY SPECIALISTS.

ALL OF THEM ARE GRADUATES OF MAJOR FRENCH SCHOOLS TEACHING HOW TO PRESERVE THE FRENCH ARTISTIC HERITAGE: ÉCOLE BOULLE, ÉCOLE CONDÉ, ETC.

ABOUT CONSERVATION

THE PURPOSE OF CONSERVATION IS TO PRESERVE THE WORK OF ART, TO STOP ITS DETERIORATION WHILE RESPECTING THE PASSAGE OF TIME ON THE WORK. CONSERVATION RESPECTS THE CULTURAL, HISTORICAL, ESTHETIC, ETHICAL AND ARTISTIC SIGNIFICANCE OF THE ITEM.

The aim of conservation and restoration is to extend the life of works of art by preventing their deterioration and slowing down the effects of time. Works of art can be exposed to many damaging factors such as moisture, light, pollution, insects, and careless handling. Conservation and restoration apply rigorous methods to prevent this damage and ensure the longevity of the works for future generations. This delicate practice combines technical expertise, scientific knowledge, and a deep respect for the integrity of the works, but also their authenticity and their value as a link between generations throughout their history.

BEFORE/AFTER

HOW FAR SHOULD WE GO?

The preservation of artistic authenticity is a major concern as regards conservation and restoration. Restorers strive to respect the original intention of the artist, avoiding excessive or inappropriate interventions. They use reversible techniques, compatible materials, and documented restoration methods to preserve the integrity of the work and allow for future analysis if necessary.

framing

MUSEUM-STYLE PRESENTATION

We offer custom-made frames to magnify the item. Thanks to our experts, we have several options for framing similar to museum practices. But we can also meet special requests by custom-making frames in order to match the harmony of the interior.
We also restore the historical and original frames of works when they show particular interest because of their esthetics, or their historical value related to the work.

PLINTHS AND STANDS

PRESENT AND MAGNIFY

We make custom-made plinths to magnify statues, masks and other works of art that may require it. Our sculptures are highlighted by plinths specially designed to support and present them optimally. Our artisans create custom-made plinths in harmony with the style and material of each sculpture. They highlight shapes, textures, and details in a way that each piece finds its ideal place in your space, providing a captivating display.

FOR A REMARKABLE WORK OF ART

Objet d’art and ceramics are also carefully presented in custom-made wooden boxes. Our artisans create boxes that provide adequate protection while emphasizing the esthetics of each piece. This allows us to bring the spirit of the tomobako to contemporary realities on ceramics and art items. This Japanese technique of seasonal storage in custom-made, esthetic boxes perfectly fits many French or European objects such as Art Nouveau ceramics which are inspired by Asian art and build bridges with Japanese art in particular.
