Art nouveau vase decorated with gilt bronze thistles
This elegant bronze vase was made by the chaser Albert Marionnet.
Ovoid in shape, the neck is adorned with golden thistles that stand out against the matt patina of the body. Thistle leaves, also gilded, run the length of the vase and form two handles on either side. The pedestal has a dark, verdigris patina.
Made around 1910, it is signed A. Marionnet.
The floral aspect of this Art Nouveau vase is typical of the period and of the style of Albert Marionnet, a Parisian chiseller who exhibited many times and won awards at the Universal Exhibitions in Brussels in 1897 and Paris in 1900.
